Freedom of Choice Remembrance Project

Opened in October 2023, the Sargeant Museum's newest exhibit highlights the oral histories of Louisa students who experiences the first year of public school integration under the Freedom of Choice Plan.

Guild Meeting

February 6, 2025

10:00 am - 12 :00 pm

Join the Louisa Hearth & Herb Guild at the Sargeant Museum on the 1st Thursdays of the month 10:00 am to noon. The Guild is a group of gardening and hearth cook enthusiasts committed to herbal and horticultural education and bringing Louisa County history to life through hands-on experiences. They support Museum programs by putting on demonstrations and hosting workshops, and maintain the Heritage Farm’s herb plot. Members of the public are always welcome to join, and Guild meetings are open to all!

Seasonal Saturday: Black History Month

February 8, 2025

10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Embark on a fun-filled history adventure as we explore Black History in Louisa County! Get excited for hands-on children's activities, observe a hearth cooking demonstration, and visit our one-room schoolhouse!

Lather Up with Handmade Soaps - Heritage Skills Workshop

Wishing you could pamper yourself, naturally, just in time for Spring! Join the Louisa History Guild to learn about making soap the old-fashioned way and leave with your own custom made and scented soap.
